Develop a Future Ready Workforce with TWI Job Relations
OVERVIEW
If people on your team don’t trust your intent it will be difficult to make progress. Relationships are the foundation of accomplishment, the stronger the relationship the better the accomplishment. TWI Job Relations is a means to developing the skill of building trust.”
Boeing Seattle were instrumental in pioneering the development of the skill of Job Relations commencing in 2014. The results seen at the Seattle site drove Boeing to commit to similar programs at other sites including the 787 facility in Port Melbourne. The first “class” was delivered by the TWI Institute Australia at Port Melbourne in May 2017 to a group of Senior Manufacturing Managers, Manufacturing Managers and support department Senior Managers. The average feedback score was 9.4/10 with an overwhelming conclusion of “we need to do this across the site”.
Since that time about 80 leaders have been trained from all levels and different departments of the business. Combined with this was a “10 contact” follow up mentoring program. Training capability has recently been developed internally through the Institute Train The Trainer program.
Care has been taken not to assign classic production metrics to this exercise as it is a long term investment. Such a short or medium term view may have been risky. Each group have provided feedback after their 10 contact follow up period and the feedback has been charted. This objective data has provided critical insights.
