Clearly this is a stressful period for organisations around the globe. Some organisations will cease to exist due to the nature of their business (restaurants, arts & entertainment, health/beauty, etc.), others will cease to exist due to decisions made by their leadership team and some will prosper. This talk will describe 12 actions that apply to most organizations and suggest actions to take to increase the likelihood of success moving forward.
This week we are excited to welcome guest speaker Michael Bremer, co-author of four books on effective performance improvement practices. Michael was a 2016 Shingo Research Award recipient for “How to Do a Gemba Walk.”.
Michael is the the retired President of the Cumberland Group. He currently gives a considerable amount of volunteer time to the Association of Manufacturing Excellence (AME) North America. He served on the AME National Board for 12 years, led the design of AME’s improvement self-assessment instrument “The Lean Sensei™” and serves as a Volunteer VP AME’s Excellence Award activities, Michael has Worked for a number of highly effective leaders and a few not so effective senior executives and has learned much from both groups. Michael and Lynn recently moved from Chicago to San Rafael, CA in order to be closer to their grandchildren. Michael is passionate about improving the way leaders lead – finding ways to more effectively engage people and use new technologies.
Energy Survival: Don’t Miss the Opportunity in a Crisis
Event Stream: Webinar
When: 5 June 2020, 11.30am EST to 12.30pm EST
Location: Zoom Meeting
During these testing times it is all too easy to focus on the immediate problems brought about by the ‘new normal’ of the COVID virus. This can result in businesses missing golden opportunities because these opportunities are ‘not on the radar’. On June 5th, in this AME online event, Utilizer will talk to one of these golden opportunities: energy. As Australia commences the move out of lockdown, please join Utilizer and AME for an insightful discussion on the genuine opportunities in the energy space that will enable you to get a jump on the competition.
Referencing actual case studies, we will show how you can realise short- and medium-term OPEX reductions by optimising your energy outcomes, with examples of:
Energy procurement – large market gas and electricity forward contracting
Making the most of your meter data
Network tariff analysis and reallocation
Demand and capacity resets
Power Factor Correction
Solar – capex and non-capex options
Sustainable options – green power options in a greener world
Utilizer is a leading energy consultancy, helping Australian businesses achieve game-changing sustainable outcomes.
Don't miss out on this great opportunity to learn about lean-problem solving and A3 thinking from one of Toyota's A3 thinking experts, Barry McCarthy, Former Manager Manufacturing Systems at Toyota Motor Corporation Australia. With the closure of automotive manufacturing in Australia, Barry is now sharing his unique experience and understanding with the AME community.
The A3 developed at Toyota has spread to be at the heart of Lean Management. It puts a story to facts and data to engage stakeholders in decision-making and rapid implementation. This one hour masterclass will explore how to make the complex simple by bringing to life the storytelling and decision-making process of Plan, Do, Check, and Act (PDCA) Thinking in the form of a single one-page A3.
Join fellow continuous improvement practitioners and leaders for a virtual lean coffee break. Given the changing landscape and exceptional circumstances surrounding COVID-19, it is a challenging time for our members and the AME community. We would like the opportunity to chat with you first hand and learn more about the impacts that you and your members are experiencing. We hope this forum will be a productive one to discuss how industry is surviving and thriving during a time of significant change.
During the facilitated virtual coffee break, we'll discuss issues and solutions for your organisations. You'll be invited to share insights and hear from fellow lean practitioners.
Registration opening soon.
Streamline Your Manufacturing Improvement Process with Powerful Statistical and Machine Learning Tools
Event Stream: Webinar
When: 26 June 2020, 11.30am EST to 12.30pm EST
Location: Zoom Meeting
The improvement practitioner’s success depends on the breadth and depth of their tool kit as well as their ability to apply those tools.
From product design to process optimisation, the power of statistical analysis helps the practitioner and their business detect, correct and even gain the foresight needed to prevent trouble before it arrives. AME Australia is proud to welcome long-time support partner Minitab to share how tools such as Design of Experiments, Process Capability Analysis, Control Charts and Machine Learning models can help Streamline Your Manufacturing Improvement Process.
Participants will learn how powerful data analysis tools have been used to optimize your processes such as:
Using graphical analysis to improve service activities
Applying control charts and capability analysis to minimize the defective rate
Using DOE to maximize concrete strength during R&D
Process optimisation using Monte Carlo simulations
Leveraging Machine Learning techniques to identify defective products/batches in the early stage
